George Lucas also announced that he would only be releasing the Star Wars Special Edition of Blu-Ray stating:
“The original theatrical editions would cost too much to convert to the high definition format.”
This is bullshit. Don’t be fooled. George Lucas is ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 243rd richest man in the world. Out of approximately 6,697,254,01 people in the world, only 242 of them have more money than George Porgie. Cost is no object to him, especially when the remastering the original theatrical releases would more than likely pay for themselves in sales. George Lucas just does not want you to see them. There aren’t enough rontos and crappy CGI Jabbas for his liking. If someone had enough money to remaster Batman & Robin for Blu-Ray, Lucas can afford to do it for the original films.
I don’t understand why he can’t do this. What the fuck. I guess we will never see the original movies the way we should. Don’t get me wrong- I have nothing against the special editions, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the films that the world fell in love with, in beautiful HD?
I want them in HD only if all the crap that was added in is TAKEN OUT. And the Ewok song is put back in. And there should be no Gungans at the end of ROTJ.
Hear hear! I don’t even care any more. I love original Star Wars, but if I have to watch them on DVD I can deal.
